Here comes Robot Rudolph from Boston Dynamics

Here comes Robot Rudolph right now~!! It is not a Si-Fi movie but real.

The Boston Dynamics, one of the most fast-growing robot companies, revealed very special video for celebrating Christmas through YouTube. In this video, we can see three robot reindeer pulling Santa's sled in a row.

Boston Dynamics is one of the robot development companies that are taken over by Google. It was founded by Dr. Marc Raibert who is usually known as the Father of robot. This company seems to specialize in developing robots for military purpose.

Actually this robot reindeer is not a whole new robot for Christmas. To be specific, it is just Rudolph version of the robot "Spot" that has been developed for military purpose. It actually attracted a lot of attention of the public for keeping in balance even when it was kicked by a person. Basically this robot is based on a dog in terms of actions and physical features. The company already revealed the video with "Spot" early in this year. I can't see any difference between the two robots in the last and latest video except for the Christmas decoration.

As I have mentioned above, this robot has been developed for military purpose. Its main job is to transfer military supplies through rough terrain. Many military experts expect this robot to be deployed in the near future. How do you feel about robot Rudolph? Is not it a bit terrifying?

Actually, the company has developed a wide range of robots such as cheetah, big dog, LS3 and so on. Most of them are walking robots with two or four legs. This company has also been under the development for military robot in collaboration with US military. It plays an essential role on the project. Actually, its robot "LS3" was involved in the military exercise in last year's summer.
