How to make the first letter large in word 2013


















Now we are going to learn how to make the first letter of your paragraph in word 2013. It is technically called "Drop cap". A drop cap is one of the best options to start your paragraph because it makes your texts more professional and dynamic.


Step 1. Type your text for a Drop cap                                                          
open your word 2013 and then type whatever you want to write. Without text typed in the word, you won't be able to use "Drop cap" function in word.

Step 2. Select Lines you want to drop                                                         
Now you have got to select lines that you want to apply drop cap function to. Like if you want to make the first letter as large as three lines, you should select three or more lines by dragging from the first letter.

Step 3. Click on Insert and Drop cap button                                               
Then you can go to insert button on the top menu bar. There you can see the drop cap button. Then click on drop cap option so that you can choose the lines to drop and distance from text. 




Step 4. Select a drop cap style                                                                  
Now you can choose drop cap style, but the most common style is the second one “Dropped”. So I will choose that style. Then, since we want three lines to drop, I will set “lines to drop” to three, but if you want more lines to drop, you can easily change it to whatever you want. Then if you want to have some distance between the first letter and the rest of your paragraph, you can do by setting “distance from text” 





Step 5. Finish                                                                                          
Now you have got wonderful start of your paragraph. Since a drop cap is used widely in text from journals or newspapers, It will be one of the best decorative function to start your paragraph to make your text look prettier.
